Carissa Curran
Carissa Curran is the proud Dean of The Ecclesial School at Northland. She is a dedicated and hard-working educator with over 20 years of experience in education, grades K-12. Carissa graduated from Anderson University in 2003 and moved to Florida, where she began her teaching career in Seminole County Public Schools. During her time in Seminole County Public Schools, Carissa received her M.Ed in Reading from Walden University and Educational Leadership degree from the University of Central Florida. During her time in Seminole County, she went from being a teacher to an Instructional Coach, and concluded her time as a school Administrator.
Carissa is a licensed principal with the state of Florida and holds her state licenses in K-6 Elementary Education, K-12 Reading, Exceptional Student Education, English Speakers of Other Languages, and Educational Leadership. She has served on the board of Christians in Public Education for over 7 years where their mission is to encourage those in public education to be Christ followers who are steadfast, immovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord. Her passion for serving can be seen in her professional and personal life each day as she serves staff and students, as well as her church and community.
Carissa’s love and passion for teaching and learning can be seen in her relationships with staff and students, professional development with staff, and the academic support she provides to both staff and students. She is very passionate to ensure that all students know that they are valued and have a balanced Christ-centered education. She believes that success in life is never an accident but takes a relationship with God, prayer, hard work, perseverance, and patience, along with the support and guidance of those you choose to surround yourself with.
Carissa spends her free time with her wonderful family and close friends, drinking coffee, hiking in the woods, reading, and writing. When she is not doing any of those things, she’s hanging out with her dog, volunteering at church, or crafting. Carissa enjoys the arts and outdoors, which is why she travels in her free time trying to see all America has to offer and reach all 50 states!
