Hannah Vainas

Hannah Vainas is the garden instructional aide at the Ecclesial School at St. Alban’s, where she works alongside Mrs. Frazer teaching nature study and common arts. She attended Reformation Bible College in Sanford where she studied theology and philosophy. It was there that Hannah was introduced to the works of Ivan Illich, Hannah Arendt, Wendell Berry, and like writers who helped form her views on technology and creation. Because of that formation, she now strives to learn all she can about the care of nature and delights at the opportunity to share this way of life with the students at the St. Alban’s campus.

Previously, Hannah lived in Haiti for two years, where she worked for a non-profit that teaches creative arts and seeks to improve literacy rates in its community. She helped lead music and dance classes, served as president of the book club, and oversaw all media and production.

Outside work, Hannah enjoys spending time with her husband Stephen, gardening, going for long walks, reading theology or literature, embroidering old clothes, and cooking. She dreams of starting a small-scale farm and becoming self-sufficient. She and her husband attend St Alban’s where they were married in June 2023.
