Jonathan Duckett serves as the Ecclesial school counselor, he is responsible for knowing, supporting, and praying for the whole community (students, teachers, and parents) in carrying out the mission and vision of a classical Christian education. He collaborates with the faculty and staff in and outside of the classroom to help provide resources to them and to the students that are related to social and emotional development. He also assists them in maintaining an environment in which each of our students can learn and thrive. Furthermore, he connects teachers and parents to resources and practices that promote their own personal growth as they aim to love and instruct their students well. Finally, my role is to see that the culture of our schools is consistent with our desire for each student to be rooted, known, and loved and to come alongside our families, teachers, and staff to facilitate that goal.
Jonathan received his Bachelor's from Liberty University and completed his graduate work at Reformed Theological Seminary Orlando, receiving a Master's of Divinity and a Master's of Arts in Counseling. Along with his education, he has spent the better part of the last decade working with students and families both in the Florida Educational System and in Christian ministry.
Informally, Jonathan was introduced to Classical Education at a young age through the writings of C. S. Lewis. His works instilled the seed of a desire that would grow into a passion for formation and ordered affection found in the vision of the Ecclesial School and the wider Classical movement. Jonathan is a voracious consumer of stories in their many different forms (whether books or films). He loves the outdoors and can often be found walking or running through the various community parks in Orlando, or hammocking along a lake. Whenever possible he also loves to gather around a table for a good tabletop board game!
